invasive as a dialog box is created right in front of the user's
computer. As this is not a browser related Java pop-up, this can happen
even when you have no programs open whatsoever. Here is an example:

How to get rid of pop-up advertising
This problem should really only affect Windows users as it is exploiting a
service that is normally used for distributing messages across a local area
network. You won't need that service running a single computer at home.
- Open your Control Panel
- Open Services (may be found under Administrative Tools)
- Look for the Messenger service
- Double-click it and set the Startup Type to Disabled.
That's it. No more pop ups.
